Toy tags & borrowing limits

Tags label toys along several axes at once — a toy can be Outdoor, Large and Baby at the same time. They're separate from categories: a toy has exactly one category (its shelf and toy-ID prefix) but any number of tags.

Creating tags

Open Settings → Tags. Give a tag a name, an optional colour for its chips, an optional icon (picked from a small curated set — it shows beside the tag everywhere its chips appear, and can print on bag labels), and — the powerful part — an optional Max on loan at once. Leave the limit blank for a plain label (great for browsing and filtering). Set a number to cap how many toys carrying that tag a household can borrow at the same time: with a Large tag limited to 1, a family with a large toy out can't take a second until the first comes back.

Tagging toys

Pick tags on the Add toy form, or on a toy's Edit details dialog — tap chips to toggle them. On a toy's page, Apply to all copies of this title copies its tag set onto every other copy of the same catalogue title, so multi-copy titles only need tagging once.

At the loans desk

When a household is at a tag's limit, the desk flags the extra toy as it's added and asks for an override, exactly like the household loan limit — a coordinator with the override permission can proceed with a reason. Limits always reflect the tag's current setting, so changing a cap applies to every household straight away.

Filtering

The inventory list has a tag filter beside the status filter, and each toy's chips link to a filtered view. Archiving a tag hides it from pickers and stops its limit being enforced — restore it any time and its toys are still tagged.
