Safety recalls & battery service

Handling product safety recalls and keeping battery-powered toys serviced — two staff worklists you reach from the sidebar.

Safety recalls

Safety recalls in the sidebar lists every copy in your collection matched to an active product recall, grouped by recall. It's always there — when nothing matches, it shows an "all clear" state. Each affected copy shows where it is right now, so you can triage:

• On shelf — pull it and set it aside so it can't be lent.
• On loan to {household}, due {date} — the toy is in a family's home. Contact them to stop use and arrange an early return.
• Reserved for {household} — cancel the hold before the copy is collected.
• Retired — awaiting return — the copy was retired while still out on loan (see below).

Telling the household

Where a copy is on loan, the row shows whether the affected household was notified and when. Use Re-send notice to send it again (for example if the first email bounced).

Marking a copy handled

If a copy has been inspected and is safe (the hazard isn't present on your batch, say), use Mark inspected/remediated — add an optional note. That greys the row so you can see at a glance what's left to deal with. It's reversible with Undo. The recall flag itself stays until the platform resolves the recall.

Retiring a recalled copy that's on loan

Retiring a copy that's still out on loan keeps the loan open — the copy stays on the recall list until it comes back, so a hazardous toy is never quietly dropped from the worklist while it's still in someone's home. Where you can, recall the loan back first; otherwise confirm "Retire and keep loan open" and it stays visible here until returned.

Battery service

Battery service due lists copies whose batteries need replacing — either no replacement has ever been recorded, or the last one is older than your battery-warning threshold (set per library). The same rule drives the amber "battery service due" warning on a toy's own page, so the two never disagree.

Rows are grouped by storage location so you can walk one shelf and service everything on it. Tick the copies you've done and use Mark N replaced to record today's date on all of them at once. Copies that are out on loan can't be serviced now — they're marked "service on return" and can't be selected.
