Editing the shared catalogue
Editing the shared catalogue
You're changing one record every library sees. Edit facts about the product, not your library or your copy.
Do
- Fix factual errors: name, brand/manufacturer, recommended age, piece list and description from the box or manufacturer.
- Keep descriptions neutral and factual: what it is, how it's played with, and the skills it supports. Use Australian English and aim for about 40–70 words.
- Set an age only if the manufacturer states one. Never guess a safety-adjacent age.
- Use a clear product photo, not a photo of your worn copy.
Don't
- Add anything library-specific — call number, shelf, condition, price or notes. Those live on your copy after the catalogue record is saved.
- Add marketing language, opinions or emoji.
- Turn a record into a different product. A different edition, size or colour is a different record.
- Merge things you're unsure are the same product — flag them instead.
Reviewing an unreviewed record
Reviewing an unreviewed record means you checked it against the physical toy and it is accurate. That is what makes it public. Not sure? Keep a private copy; you can propose it to the shared catalogue later.
