A handcrafted wooden abacus with rings threaded on ropes — a ball at the end of each string keeps the rings from slipping off and getting lost. Little ones slide the rings back and forth, counting as they go, which builds hand-eye coordination and a first sense of numbers. Made in Poland from European wood with non-toxic finishes. Best from around eighteen months.
